Apologize And Feel Better

clip_image001

The poster says:  Apologizing:  does not always mean you are wrong and the other person is right.     It just means you value your relationship more than your ego. ——- Unknown

“I wasn't saying whatever they're saying I was saying. I'm sorry I said it really. I never meant it to be a lousy anti-religious thing. I apologize if that will make you happy. I still don't know quite what I've done. I've tried to tell you what I did do but if you want me to apologize, if that will make you happy, then OK, I'm sorry.”
― John Lennon

“In this life, when you deny someone an apology,
you will remember it at time you beg forgiveness.”
― Toba Beta, My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut

“An apology is the super glue of life. It can repair just about anything.”
― Lynn Johnston

“Never forget the nine most important words of any family-
I love you.
You are beautiful.
Please forgive me.”

Grow Old Gracefully

The poster says:  Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,   But beautiful old people are works of art.  —— Eleanor Roosevelt

****************
I was in a seminar a while ago where the facilitator talked about most people in developed countries will live well into their nineties or into their one hundred years plus.  He said this is due to lifestyle, changing medicine towards aging, and, the new belief that we do not have to die in our sixties or seventies.

I found his comment on the ‘belief’ of dying quite profound. I started wondering about what other beliefs are limiting us.  And, it struck me that we all have a belief that youth is the ideal.  It is shoved at us in movies, on media, and in style.

Today, make peace with your age and what is ahead for you.  It is glorious!

About Bliss

The poster says:  Bliss lies in balance.  — Buddha Groove

************************

In my Qi Gong class the other day, several of us had a discussion about what bliss is… a concept, a state of being, a type of energy, or even something that is drug induced.  We did not arrive at a conclusion and agreed that each of us had a  different experience of bliss.  The writing below summarizes bliss in a wonderful way.

***********************************************

                             The Ultimate Bliss

Blissful is solitude

for one who’s content,

    who has heard the Dhamma,

    who sees.

Blissful is non-affliction

with regard for the world,

    restraint for living beings.

Blissful is dispassion

with regard for the world,

    the overcoming of sensuality.

But the subduing of the conceit 'I am'—

   That is truly

    the ultimate bliss.

- Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, "Do Nothing"

May you find bliss in your life.

Walking In Energy

 image

So many people have their own view of what energy is.  In some cases, the view may be incorrect, but as you see from the quotes below, energy is important to all of us.  And, we need to have an understanding of it.

************************

In essence, everything is energy and cannot be destroyed. ~~Ted Andrews

It is important to remember that we are energy. Einstein told us that. And energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just changes form. ~~Rhonda Byrne

You can use your life in a very useful and intelligent way. You can very well transform that negative energy into a positive energy that empowers you and makes life meaningful. ~~ Thich Nhat Hanh

You let the energy go wherever it wants. I have such a rich spiritual life. Most people take drugs to experience that. ~~ Shirley Maclaine

I can tell you that anything that happens in the physical body will happen in the pattern of the energy fields first.  So you actually create distortions in your own energy pattern that have to do with unforgivingness towards your self. ~~Barbara Brennan Quote

Talking About Control

clip_image001

The poster says:  When you try to control everything, you enjoy nothing.  Relax, breathe, let go, and just live.

********************************

Each of us has been taught the need to control what is around us.  We learn it from parents, from school, and from our work.  Control comes in many forms, usually in ways that deter our growth emotionally and spiritually.

When someone is learning a new task, yes, there does need to be some controls in place to help them stay between the lines.  We watch, check, and offer feedback.  However, when that person has learned the task, then we must let them go.  For if we do not, they will never grow beyond what we let them learn.

Breathe out your need to control today, and everyday.

Judy

The Dynamics of Giving

The poster says:  Better to give a little in love than a lot for recognition. — Boyd Bailey

**************************

Understanding and accepting who you really are right now is as important as the commitment to become someone more open and generous. Whatever the quality of motivation, when we intentionally reach out to others in giving, some degree of transformation occurs.  - Dale S. Wright, “The Bodhisattva’s Gift”

Walking this world is a lot of work!   There are many ways that we feel we must protect ourselves.  One way we insulate ourselves from others is to judge the other person.  For example, we see someone who needs help – food, shelter, or what ever – and we can say, “ It is not my job to help that person.  He/She should be taking better care of themselves.  They are lazy, or drunkards, or…..”

Often, we cannot know what path has led a person to the place where he/she needs help or needs clothes, food, shelter, or safety to be given to them.

What will you give today?

Blessings,

Judy

Living With Grace

image

The person who is a master in the art of living makes little distinction between their work and their play, their labor and their leisure, their mind and their body, their education and their recreation, their love and their religion.  They hardly know which is which. They simply pursue their vision of excellence and grace in whatever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing. To them, they are always doing both.  ~~~ from Zen Buddhism

This passage on grace really zinged through me as we are halfway through July.  It seems that many things that I go to do or try to do are minefields of issues or tasks that have to be done before I can actually do what it is I wanted to enjoy.  I was not feeling the flow of things.  I was not moving with grace.  I had to figure out my block, in me, and release it.  It is a work in progress.

Moving through this month, and through life, try to remember that you can be graceful in what ever you do.  It is born in us.  We forget it, and then forget how to be graceful.

May your life flow with ease.

Blessings,

Judy

Be Your Best Self

The poster says:  Your best life comes when you commit to being your best self.  —- Cheryl Richardson

*******************************

Over the years of working and coaching people, I have had many people question what it means to be your best self.  Their concern is that a person is so busy learning their job, taking orders from a boss, and working long hours along with trying to cope with a family and parental tasks that they do not have time to think about best.  They do as good as they can which is mostly not their best.

The concern is valid.  All of us have outside pressures on us that can interfere with self learning, contemplation, and reflection.  The pressures interfere with how we see ourselves and our values and interfere with us setting boundaries.

To be our best self, we need to slow down and take a breath.  We need to think about the things that we want to do as our best self.  For many, this may be about being the best self as a father or mother or brother or sister or child to a parent.  It may be about learning everything one can about a hobby that fascinates and fulfills them.  There is no right answer.  It also means that one must let go of trying to be perfect in other things.  In other words, one must set boundaries around what is the best and what is okay, and how one splits their attention and time.  It is a complicated life!

Blessings,
Judy

Solitude

Sometimes, we simply need a place to be by ourselves, in the stillness of nature, so that we may find ourselves.  Solitude is about learning to be alone with one’s self. It is our choice. We need to be quiet.

It is not about being cut off from others, by others.  Being cut off from others, by their choice, is isolation.

Today, when you meditate, quizz yourself on all the times you felt like you needed solitude.  When you have your list of recurring instances, look at it to see when you need to schedule some solitude time. You then begin working with the flow of your life.

Judy

You - The Universe

The poster says:  Remember you are this universe and this universe is you.  — Joy Harjo

*******************
This poster sent a zing through my system when I saw it.  It brought up so many memories of my teachers telling me that our physical body is part of the earth.  Our soul is part of the Universe.

One reason that they had to keep explaining it to us as students, is that on the path of learning, one tends to forget the bigger picture.  The bigger picture is that the Earth and the Universe have existed long before mankind hit the scene and, according to astronomers, the Universe has kept expanding beyond what we can actually understand.

My teachers would say that man/capitalism/corporations have this belief that they can control and manage the Earth and thereby manage humans.  And yet the Earth and the Heavens create weather that is not manageable, earthquakes and volcanoes that are not manageable, and the introduction of new species that come from Nature, which is not manageable.  The teaching is that we are to be caretakers of the Earth to help her in her creation.

If the Earth is constantly changing and the Universe is changing (stars die and new stars are created) then we as part of the Earth and the Universe shall be constantly changing, expanding, and creating.  Life is a wonderful gift.

Blessings,
Judy

Talk of Values

The poster says:  My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes.  ——India Arie

******************************

I am noticing the way people talk about values when it comes up in conversation.  The word - value - can have so many different meanings such as the value for the money paid, the value of the type of cloth vs another type of cloth, the mathematical value, value of a good or service, and the moral or ethical value of something.

The conversations usually center around moral and ethical values.  A good definition of this concept is: In a social or personal sense, values represent the core beliefs, principles, or standards of behavior held by an individual or group. These are the abstract concepts that dictate what someone deems right, worthwhile, or desirable.

Generally, the discussions seem to talk about how values in Canada have changed over the last twenty years.  One of my favourite conversations is around “doing good” as a value.  People in the discussion talk about how most of the people and the government a different concept of “doing good” then standard of good that the individuals grew up with.  Doing good also has different meanings such as being a good neighbour, helping out someone with troubles, volunteering, and the list goes on.

Everyone needs to decide for themselves what values mean to them, and which values are worth while and which are not.

Blessings,
Judy

Loving

The words on the picture say:  Love is like the wind, You can’t see it, but you can feel it.  -  Nicholas Sparks

*******************************

The feeling of being loved is the most generous, all encompassing, delightful feeling that I know.  It comes from our family, our very good friends, and our pets.  It helps us get through the terrible times when we suffer grief, pain, anger, and even life threatening situations.  When people do not like you, it is the absence of love.  It does not matter.  Why associate with anyone that does not know how to love?

How Do You Choose?

image

The poster says:  You have two primary choices in life:  to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.  —- Author Unknown

********************************

When you walk through life, each decision is a fork in the road.  We all know this at an unconscious level.  However, we all need to be mindful that each choice is like the stone hitting the water; waves ripple across the pond and move the lily pad, splash the frog on the rock, or lap over the shoreline.  Our choices always have consequences. When we accept that we must change something, we can pray to move through that change with grace and dignity.

Canada Day 2026

Picture of July 1 celebration in Banff, Alberta, Canada,  - from the Banff website

There is nothing like the feeling of celebrating Canada Day in a crowd of Canadians filled with pride about their country.  Several years ago, my husband and I and our dogs were in Banff for the celebration.  It was awesome!  Several elk even made an appearance.  There were bands, dancers, First Nations folks with ceremonial dress, displays, hot dogs, and drinks.

Now, the crowds are so huge, that wildlife stays away, and people fight for sidewalk room and for line ups at restaurants and pop up vendors.  There are still bands and dancers and entertainment.  It is an experience.

Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy it.

Happy Canada Day,
Judy

Nature’s Wonder

The picture above is taken during a huge hail storm that looks like snow, on June 20 2026. The hail lasted about twenty-five minutes and shredded leaves and knocked leaves and some branches off trees, and changed the temperature to cold.  What a day!

Now is a good time to remember that weather (whether) it is summer or fall or winter or spring, Nature is where we must go to balance and to regenerate.

We humans do not own the Earth; we are of the Earth.  The earth’s minerals and water flows through us.  We lose the Earth connection in the cities and even in rural areas – anywhere where life is “rushing” and where daily routines create stress and anxiety.

If you feel stress and anxiety, then now is the time to slow down.  Now is the time to step out into Nature to bring down the stress level.  All is well.

Blessings,

Judy

Being Happy Is A Style

The poster says:  Being happy never goes out of style. —-Keri Hilton
***************

I had to go to the shopping mall the other day.  As I walked towards the store I needed to attend, I looked around and saw that there did not seem to be very many happy looking people walking around.

Happy does not mean that you need a big grin on your face all the time.  Happy means looking peaceful, content, relaxed, and calm, and looking like you are enjoying the experience of what ever you are doing.

For example, people that are doing their favourite hobby usually look very happy and contented.  Guys who love working on cars will not necessarily be smiling but they may be humming or whistling even if they throw in the odd swear words because of a road block in their job.  Some ladies who knit were saying the other day that there is nothing like uninterrupted time for knitting… it makes them happy.

We each have a way to incorporate happy into our life, into our style.  How do you accomplish this each day?

Many blessings,
Judy

Your Best Life

The poster says:  Your best life comes when you commit to being your best self.  —-Cheryl Richardson

***********************

Someone asked me the other day if I thought that I was living my best life.  I thought about the question for a moment, and I answered, “Yes!  I am living my best life at this time.”

The person then asked what I meant by “this time”.  I replied that early on in my adult life, I made choices that made my life difficult, and therefore my life was not the best life for me at that time.  I had to complete some karma (and I will leave it at that).

The next question was - what makes this time so good to be considered your best?  That was an easy one.  Everything that I need and everything that I want to do are there for me to move forward.  I really want for nothing.  Not many people can say that.  I have wonderful sisters and a brother, and wonderful friends, and the best husband.  I could go on, but you get the idea.  I get to do what feels right.

The individual started pressing with more questions.  I said, “I am done with this.”

I walked away.  I get to make the choices and to do what is right for me.  I do not have to put up with someone else’s agenda. Neither do you.

Many blessings,

Judy

Your Daily Actions

Summer Solstice June 21 2026

Stonehenge at Summer Solstice - picture from History.com

*************************

The astronomical summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere occurs on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 4:24 A.M. EDT(08:24 UTC).

We who live in the Northern Hemisphere are so grateful for the longest day and the shortest night.  In 2026, it seems like summer and the warmth of the Sun will not arrive.  The mountains still have lots of snow on them.

The picture of Stonehenge is because years ago on the Summer Solstice, I was at Stonehenge. Our small group had permission to be inside the Henge at sunrise.  Yes it was an early, early morning.  Thinking about the experience still gives me goose bumps because the site was filled with energy and old souls and celebration.  It is an experience that I will never forget.

Since then, we have had summer solstice gatherings and we have celebrated on our own.  To be outside first thing in the morning on Solstice, regardless of the location, is an experience.

May your solstice this year be the start of all kinds of abundance for you for the next year.

Many blessings,

Judy

Being Immortal

image

The poster says:  Millions long for immortality who don’t know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.  —  Susan Erzurum

*****************

It is hard to believe that we are immortal souls when we have so much going on in this mortal life.  Yet, if you can find that space of “no time” in your daily thoughts or in your meditation, you can see the very beginning and end of time, and all things between, for just a few moments.  And, in that time, you know there is no time and you are immortal!  You find memories and future visions in that glimpse.  You are eternal.

Wolves In Dream Time

Bow Valley Wolf Pack - Picture from Canadian Running Magazine

The wolves have been very active in dream time – they prowl through the different sites of dreams.  Wolf wants you to remember that a pack is safer then being alone for traveling in strange territory. However, Wolf likes to go out and be solitary when it is suitable, and will travel many miles by itself.  Alone, Wolf is very cautious and will observe before going into the open.

Perhaps you need to listen to Wolf’s advice about something that you are going to do now.

On Staying In Balance

The Art of Staying in Balance

--by Osho   (Aug 18, 2008)

 clip_image001

The most difficult thing, the almost impossible thing for the mind, is to remain in the middle, to remain balanced. And to move from one thing to its opposite is the easiest. To move from one polarity to another is the nature of the mind. [...]

It is difficult for the mind to come to the right diet, difficult for the mind to stay in the middle. It is just like a clock's pendulum. The pendulum goes to the right, then it moves to the left, then again to the right, and again to the left; the clock's working depends on this movement.

If the pendulum stays in the middle, the clock stops. And when the pendulum moves to the right, you think it is only going to the right, but at the same time it is gathering momentum to go to the left. The more it moves to the right, the more energy it gathers to move to the left, and vice versa.

Thinking means momentum. The mind starts arranging for the opposite. When you love a person you are gathering momentum to hate him. That's why only friends can become enemies. You cannot suddenly become an enemy unless you have first become a friend. [...]

Logic is superficial, life goes deeper, and in life all opposites are joined together, they exist together. Remember this, because then meditation becomes balancing.

Buddha taught eight disciplines, and with each discipline he used the word right. He said: Right effort, because it is very easy to move from action to inaction, from waking to sleep, but to remain in the middle is difficult.

When you are standing in the middle you are not gathering any momentum. And this is the beauty of it -- a man who is not gathering any momentum to move anywhere, can be at ease with himself, can be at home.

--Osho

Elephant Singing

Animals bring joy and happiness with them.  They live in the now moment and yet, like humans, can have long memories of grievances and of great kindnesses.

I dreamt of a young Elephant, who was standing out in a field, singing.  He was singing of the joys of the tribe (family).  He was singing about eating tasty grasses and leaves.  He sang too, about the young animals he would get to play with from time to time.  He sang about his mother, and how she cared for him.

He made me think that we humans should be so lucky.

Who Are Your Friends?

The poster says:   “I talk about you like you put the stars in the sky!”

********************************************

This means that you think so highly of someone that you cannot talk about them enough, almost to the point of a state of worship.  This can be good or bad.  However, I heard this phrase in the context of great love between a man and a woman, and the realization that they had.  They were so wrapped up in each other, they were losing their friends.  Friends are the food that keep you going.  So, it is good to love.  It is good to have friends.

Prayer

 image

The Angels tell us that the easiest way to speak with Creator is to simply talk to Creator in prayer.  A prayer is simply when we talk to Mother/Father God, or to the Supreme Being  that is in your belief system.

I think simple prayers work the best because they come from the heart.

I love this prayer because it covers so much.

Give Us Hearts to Understand

Give us hearts to understand;
Never to take from creation's beauty more than we give;
never to destroy wantonly for the furtherance of greed;
Never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth's beauty;
never to take from her what we cannot use.

Give us hearts to understand
That to destroy earth's music is to create confusion;
that to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty;
That to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house of stench;
that as we care for her she will care for us.

We have forgotten who we are.
We have sought only our own security.
We have exploited simply for our own ends.
We have distorted our knowledge.
We have abused our power.

Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst,
Help us to find the way to refresh your lands.

Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris and pollution,
help us to find the way to cleanse your waters.

Great Spirit, whose beautiful earth grows ugly with misuse,
help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.

Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed,
help us to find a way to replenish them.

Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lost in selfishness and corruption,
help us to find the way to restore our humanity.

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,
whose breath gives life to the world, hear me;
I need your strength and wisdom.

May I walk in Beauty.

Growers and Doers

The poster says:  The future belongs to the few of us still willing to get our hands dirty.

**********************

How many people do you know get their hands dirty on a regular basis?  If you come from a farming background, chances are you know people who did get dirty, working with their hands, digging, tilling, and fixing machinery, or working with animals.

Statistics tell us that less and less people are producing any thing for themselves; they rely on others to produce the food, the goods, and the technology.   One of the most calming things, to my mind, is digging in the dirt to create a garden, or working with animals, or fixing a piece of equipment.

Yes, it is hard to fix things when the hard goods are all disposable, and some cities even prohibit the cultivating of gardens.  However, you may find a place where you can work with your hands, and get them dirty.  Your soul will thank you!

No One Is Alone

I was listening to two women talking at a café while I was waiting for my sister to join me.  Their conversation was interesting because they talked about their children and how busy their kids or grandkids were.  Both women said that having their children close to them and yet so busy, made them feel alone or lonely.

I rolled that around in my mind.  Does lonely mean that they have no one to talk to?  Does lonely mean they feel excluded from the activities?  Does lonely mean that the children have nothing to do with their mother?  I wasn’t sure.

What I am sure about is that Angels are always present so one is never alone.

Find Your Strength

image

The poster says:  Strength does not come from physical capacity.  It comes from an indomitable will. — Gandhi

*******************************************

Strength moves us from a place of helplessness to being powerful.  Even the smallest child can have incredible strength if they have incredible will!

Our will – our truth deep within our Spirit – manifests so many ways, and yet we do not see how we are being strong.  We see others that are strong, and we remark on how powerful or willful, they are.

Some examples are the will of people who are ill, to live.   Or, the will of someone to go to university and the most adverse situation.  Or, the will of someone who has different learning disabilities to learn to read and write, and then to write best selling books.   Gandhi is a wonderful example of the will of one man to make change.

I think about our Ancestors and how they had the will to move from Europe or Asia to North America in the seventeen and eighteen hundreds, and then hook up with a wagon train to travel west.  What courage and will!

Is there something that you need to find the will to do?

As June rolls in, I think happy thoughts of summer and barbque and drinks on the deck and enjoying the sun and the growing garden and the flowers.  Yes, lots of little things make me happy.

Today, think of all the things that make you happy and work one happy thing into each of the days ahead.  It is worth the effort.

What Are You Thinking?

The poster says:  Stop thinking of what could go wrong and start thinking of what could go right!

***************************

This poster was a really nice wakeup call for me!  I was falling into a trap that existed around me, on a project, where everyone worried about what could go wrong.  I thought about what I was thinking – that is when you realize how far out you can go with your thoughts!

I normally think happy thoughts.  I am grateful for my sisters and our closeness so I often think about situations that made me laugh when we three sisters were together.  I clicked into a knowing that I let that go… Why?  I was being sucked into “grim”.

I am letting go of grim and going back to happy.  I made a list of all the good things, and I have it visually pinned to the cork board in my office in my head.  I look at it every day, sometimes twice a day, or when ever I need it.  Things do go ‘right’!

Work To Inspire Self

image

The poster says: Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working. - Pablo Picasso

************************************

It is easy to let go of ambition to do this or that, and this is mostly in the competitive world of career and position climbing.  Competition such as that gets old after while.

What makes getting up in the morning lots of fun is to find something that you can work at, and, as you work at it, it grows and changes you – rather than you changing it!

Inspiration gives you new synapses in your brain.  It makes you fun, interesting, and a great person to know.  Inspiration is about feeling alive and being able to conquer all that lies ahead of you.

Good luck and blessings for your next inspiration.

Religion and Spirituality Are Different

To me, religion is an agreement between a group of people about what God is. Spirituality is a one-on-one relationship. —-Steve Earle

I am interested that several times, lately, someone comes up to me and tells me that they are spiritual, and then proceeds to describe their religion to me.  Their religion seems to have so many rules and “must do” and “must not do”, I wonder how they can possibly enjoy life.

I enjoy Steve Earle’s comment.  Steve Earle is a singer and song writer who has written hits for movies including Dead Man Walkingand Brokeback Mountain, to name two.  His quote talks about spirit and it’s relationship with God or Great Spirit.

You Are Unique

image

The poster says:  What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.  - Ralph Waldo Emerson

************************************************

Some days, you have to get out of bed and say, “This is the dream. I can do what ever I need to do, today!”

By doing this, you free up yourself to look within, to see what calls to you from the heart, and allows you to do “something” that fulfills your soul.

Although that sounds like a huge task, it is not!  Fulfilling your soul is unique for each of us.  It may be anything from car racing to making bread, to reading to children at a library.  What lies within us is a need to connect with something greater than each of us.

For me, being out with animals, in Nature, brings great peace to my soul, my physical body, and my emotional body.  I come back to the house feeling energized.

My friend, Diana, bakes cookies.  She will make large ones and small ones and cute ones, and feel happier for it.  It makes her friends happy too, because we get to eat them.

Like the Eagle, we each have to soar and dive into things to find the special “thing” that fulfills us.  Start looking today if you don’t know what it is.

Blessings,

Judy

Trusting In Self

image

This poster says:  Just trust yourself.  Then you will know how to live. - Goethe

******************************************

I was doing a card reading for a friend, using Doreen Virtue’s Angel Cards.  The card that came up in every selection when we moved to a different question, was the card, TRUST.

The idea of trusting ourselves is not new.  We have all been taught not to trust ourselves, by religion and priests or ministers, by teachers, and by parents and family.  How many times were your decisions criticized by one of the groups in the previous sentence?  I know that they have your best interests at heart, but, do they really?  Or, are they trying to keep you from rocking their world.

It is often easier to persuade someone not to change than to let their change interfere with your life and patterns of belief.  You may even have done this to a friend.  Is that person still your friend?

Trusting yourself means not asking others for their opinion.  For some reason, if you ask for an opinion, the other person expects you to follow the guidance.  Sometimes the guidance is so ridiculous, you could not possibly follow it.  So, save yourself some grief.  Make your own decisions.  If you need to get advice from a trusted expert – a lawyer, accountant, or doctor, or whoever, that is different than asking someone who is not an expert.  Don’t stop doing that.

Blessings,

Judy
