Two Kinds of Rocks

IMG_0573

This picture along the Kootenay River reminds me of the stories about rocks.  There are two kinds of rocks that grow in the Earth.  One rock represents goodness, kindness, steadfastness, and strength.  These rock are guardians or sentinels.  A good example is the ring of rocks at Stonehenge.  Another example are the mountains of the Rocky Mountains.

Then there are the rocks that are grown from anger.  These rocks are pushed up through the Earth because people have expressed a heart felt wish of extreme anger.  The rocks lose their ability to hold strength and push up as broken and feel “off”.  These rocks can mark a place of Sorrows.

This day, be mindful of what your heart holds and what you create in the world.

Judy

Welcome August 1 2024

As the months turn from July into August, the feeling of harvest becomes a reality.  Pickings are available for different berries through to the first beans and peas. In some places, early corn is ready.

Our Celtic Ancestors celebrated the festival of LAMMAS on August first.  Some call it the festival of the new bread.  This is because in some areas, the first wheat crops are ripe and ready to harvest.  The feasting celebrates the Goddess for her goodness in ensuring a great harvest.  Stalks of wheat and ears of corn are offered as tributes to her generosity.

In Aboriginal cultures through North America, the Green Corn Ceremony is celebrated.  Dancing and feasting and offerings to Great Spirit are made to ensure the ongoing abundance of corn, beans and squash.  Mature corn that is ready to roast is the signal for the start of this celebration.

Our Ancestors also believed that with this festival, souls who had not moved on, that is, souls that are stuck on Earth, were given the opportunity, by the generous nature of the Goddess, to move on to the higher dimensions.

Blessings,

Judy

Keep Shining

                                            Picture from e-buddhism.com

Have you noticed that some people just seem to think that it is their right to judge and convict others for attitudes, actions, or beliefs that do not align with the one that is judging beliefs?

I am amazed when I watch videos of different animal species like a cat and a bear, becoming friends for years.  An amazing video showed the friendship between a sea lion and a dog.  I am sure that you have seen other videos like the friendship between a bear, a tiger, and a lion.  The animals are all different and still accept the other animal with all of its personality and actions.

Why do people react so differently to others?  Yes, there are exceptions where two different individuals will become friends but those seem to be less frequent.

I believe that when we shine our light, our goodness, our kindness, and our personality, that we intimidate others.  The others make up judgements, sometimes lies, and spread rumours about us to make themselves feel bigger/better.

By continuing to be ourselves and ignoring the issues that the other people have, we become our best selves.  Our light shines.

Many blessings,
Judy

Words Are - Joy and Openness

image

This is a time to let go of fear and feel the joy that permeates the world.  The JOY energy is driving the darker energies ahead of it, and therefore, you who are sensitive to these energies, feel the dark and resist.  The dark energies then have a place to anchor and hide from JOY.

Be OPEN to all that is around you.  Feel the goodness that is ever apparent everyday.  Feel the pull of doing what is right.

Let your reservations about life be released.  Hanging on is not going to help the process of change.  Let go!  Feel the oceans of oneness and joy that will move through your home, career, and leisure.  Feel a moment of Zen, where nothing matters.  Your Soul will guide you!

Many blessings,

Judy

A Healing Chant/Prayer

I am a baby boomer, as are many of my friends.  Now, when we meet, one of the first topics of conversation is “how are your parents” (or mother or father).  It seems like many of us are having the experience of loved ones and friends dying.  Often, death may seem like a blessing because the person has had an illness that debilitates and causes the family to feel helpless.

Several days ago, one of my clients phoned me and said that she and some friends wanted to get together to do a healing prayer for a good friend that had cancer and was given several months to live.  She asked if I could recommend a good healing prayer.  I recommended the following chant to her.

Traditional Buddhist Blessing and Healing Chant

Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.

By the power of every moment of your goodness
May your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.

By the power of every moment of your goodness
May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.

For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion of the Way,
May your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.

I love this chant because it is so peaceful and beautiful.  When I read it and say it, it makes me feel connected with the All.  If you decide to use this chant for someone you know, say it out loud,  either one, three, or seven times, each time that you do the chant.  There is power in the sound of the voice and power in the number of repetitions.

Many Blessings,

Judy

A Personal Creed

A quiet place for reflection in Fish Creek Park - by Judy Hirst

When one thinks of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, one thinks of valour, and of a creed of goodness or honour.  It will not surprise you to find that "Creed" means a "set of beliefs or guiding principles" (from the merriam-webster.com online dictionary).

History admires knights or anyone who seems to hold fast to principles of integrity and truth.  Why?  Because today, we no longer work with truth and integrity as part of our every day lives in business.  A popular sales tool is called "bait and switch".  The goal is to get the buyer interested in a mythological set of goods, and then actually sell the buyer something quite different.  Where is the integrity in that?  Corporations sell based on making money and producing revenue for shareholders. Shoddy workmanship, falsified lists of ingredients or list of parts, and mislabelled packages are all part of the "game" to improve the bottom line.

With such examples in our every day lives, it almost seems impossible for an individual to avoid replicating the examples from the workplace.  Buddhists have the five precepts that they live by:

  • Abstain from destroying life
  • Abstain from stealing
  • Abstain from sexual misconduct
  • Abstain from lies
  • Abstain from intoxicating drinks

These five precepts are actually their creed for their way of life - a way of life that has been around since the first day of Buddha.  Many people find these precepts difficult to understand.

Shaman suggest that each of us create our own creed or way of life.  Therefore, when we violate our creed, we immediately "feel" the breach of trust with our self, and we react to repair the damage.

Here are some ideas for a personal creed.

  • I will be good to my body.
  • I will be truthful to myself and others.
  • I will treat all living things with respect.
  • I will honour the rights of all human beings to be the individuals they are with their own Sacred Points of View.
  • I will embrace my faith, and I will trust the Creator's divine guidance.
  • I will see all experiences in my life as ways to grow with lessons to learn.
  • I will strive to be my personal best without comparing my path to others.   (Suggestions from DANCING THE DREAM by Jamie Sams)j0430790
  • Being good to your body means the right foods should be consumed!  Picture from Microsoft Clip Art....

When each of these ideas is examined, one says, "Why wouldn't I follow these beliefs?"  The interesting answer is that often, in order to work at a job each day, one cannot have many of these beliefs because the beliefs at work conflict with the beliefs of the person.

When one sits in Meditation and asks how to resolve the incongruity of the work place and the person, Angels may answer and simply tell the person to leave their job.  To work at something that does not treat humans with respect is not healing or loving.  When we have a creed of honour, we crave the feeling of Oneness with all things -much like the Shaman of old were seen to be filled with peace and a spirit that directly linked to the Heavens.

The creed that our ancestors lived with was about being in balance, recognizing Nature/Mother Earth as the provider of all food and water and air - simply, the provider of everything.  Corporations with all of their material goods, do not provide everything that we need. Perhaps it is time for all of us to develop a creed.

    What will your creed be?

    Blessings,

    Judy

    Understanding Patience

     image

When you plant seeds in the garden, you don’t dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear away the weeds; you know that the seeds will grow in time. Similarly, just do your daily practice and cultivate a kind heart. Abandon impatience and instead be content creating the causes for goodness; the results will come when they’re ready.  Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron, “Meditator’s Toolbox”

I watch people and I see their impatience.  I understand it because I was quite impatient in many things for a very long time.  I have come to understand that when I have no expectations of others, then, I have no impatience.

    Many blessings,

    Judy

    Archangel Uriel’s Chant

image Picture from Angel Speaks – Archangel Uriel

When I took my Angel Therapy Training years ago, one of the Archangels that I have really come to enjoy working with is Archangel Uriel.  I love the feeling of joy and love that flows around me when I work with this angel.  Below is one of the chants that Archangel Uriel shared with me.  I hope that it helps you.

    *****************************************

Dearest ones of light!  I greet you!  I, Uriel, am delighted that you are all now looking at the changes taking place in a kinder, more loving light.  I give to you this chant to use to move forward with grace.

    Chant for Grace

I call on the Goodness in the heavens and on the earth

To bring me to forgiveness of myself and all souls.

I call on all souls to forgive me for my actions in all my lifetimes.

I offer love and compassion to all those that I have scorned.

I offer loving kindness to all those in need.

I surrender my need to clutter my life.

I choose my actions each day, and accept the responsibility of my choices.

I now choose actions of love, health, and happiness.

     ***************************************

Use this chant to help shift all the thoughts that go around in your head and make you unhappy.

    Have a blessed day!

    Sending many blessings,

    Judy

    July 1 2023

Picture is from Kelvern Celtic Society page

Our Ancestors had stories and ceremonies for every month of the year.  July rolls around and people talk about how Julius Caesar created the Western world calendar in about 45 B.C.  July is named after him.

The patron Goddess of July is the Goddess, Athena.  She has many aspects – Warrior goddess, goddess of wisdom, goddess of goodness, goddess of common sense.  Most of us know her as a Greek goddess, however, she has roots in African and Celtic belief systems.

Some of the things to know about July from an ancestral belief system are:

    • the gemstone for July is a ruby
    • July is about prospering, enjoying and attuning with nature
    • in Europe, sometimes called the month of the barley harvest
    • days grow shorter as a sign of reversal
    • the strongest healing properties in July are prevention and protection
    • the tree of July is the oak tree

    Happy July 1!

    Many blessings,

    Judy
