New Year’s Day - January 1 2024

It is here!  The New Year!  2024!

We all look forward to a wonderful, fresh start when a new year rolls around.  What are you looking for?  Improved health?  A new job?  Better relationships with family and friends?  A trip to a faraway place?

These are all wonderful goals.  Before you look to the future, take a few minutes to think about what things did not go well in 2023.  See if you can decipher why those events went from perfect to chaos.  Remember to take responsibility if you had a role in why things did not go according to plan.  If the fault was another person or group of people, maybe look at whether you need to have them in your life.  We all need to shed the things and people that do not serve our life.

I suggest that you add a couple of things to your goals.  These are:

-regular exercise

-meditation at least once a week or more

-deciding to put healthy, wholesome food into your body

-being loving everyday

I do wish each of you a fantastic 2024!  I believe that for all the wars and corruption in our politics around the world, that 2024 will be a positive year for all people, if the person lets it be.

Happy New Year!

Many blessings,

Judy

Caring For Your Body

image

Now that Christmas Day is over, and many of us have had at least two big meals, new messages are coming to me about body care.

The message that has been coming through in meditation and in dream time is that I need to take care of my body…. and this message is for each of us…. we need to take care of our bodies so that we can stay active and be witness to the changes that are happening on the planet at this time.

I keep hearing the message to exercise.  It speaks that each of us are different and that we need to each find an exercise that works for us.  For me, it is medium effort yoga and lots of walking in nature.

I also keep hearing the message to eat more healthy by making better choices.  I have been getting strong signals from my angels when I make an unhealthy choice of food.  For example, if I choose to eat white bread, I eat a little, and then I get a headache.  White bread converts to sugar too quickly in my body.  If I choose French fries over carrot sticks, I get a pain in my neck.  If I choose an apple over a cookie, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling.  Why the pain and fuzzies?  I have asked my Angels to help me choose better food and to help me stay disciplined.

As I make the changes, I notice that the energetic changes on the planet do not seem to hit me quite as hard.  When I am making poorer choices around food, I have trouble sleeping between midnight and three o’clock AM.

I am working at taking care of my body.  I hope that you take of yours, too!

Many blessings,

Judy

Pacing Yourself

The life lesson that I am having difficulty learning is how to pace myself both to get things done and to give time required for healing my tendons in my leg.  You see, I want to do everything on my list immediately so that it is done.  This need to get things done has been an undoing for my healing process because I do “things” too quickly and too forcefully.  I put strain on my body.

I am learning that you can still do everything if you do them slowly and easily, and allow for short breaks between tasks.  Even dog walking had to change so that my pace is slower and my strides shorter.  The doc put a limit on the distance that I can walk at one time.

Change about pace is a challenge.  Relearning what the balance is to provide both exercise and healing is quite eye-opening.  Our bodies are self healing. In my case, I was interfering with my healing.

Blessings,
Judy

Walking and walking

Yesterday, my good friend and I walked and walked and walked.  It was cathartic!  The weather was just right… before it got too hot.  We were walking in a park and met lots of people also out walking, and we saw and met lots of dogs with their dog “parents”.  That was fun, too!

The birds were singing, the water was running, and everyone was moving.  The leaves are just coming out and the Earth felt warm and alive.  It made me feel grateful to be alive and out walking and sharing the day with others.  My friend said that walking made her feel good and also positive.  For me, walking was about rejuvenation and healing.

We all have different reasons to be out walking.  We can walk to exercise, to spend time with friends, to release frustration or anger, and to enjoy the fresh air.  Walking with my friend is a different experience than walking with my dog.  My dog, Merlin, likes to stop and sniff and prowl around a bit.  He likes to greet people and then keep going.  He doesn’t like to stop and talk.  He likes a slow walk and no more than an hour or he is played out.

Where ever you are, I hope that today you have a chance to walk outside, close to trees and water.  It is so wonderful!

Many blessings,

Judy

You Get What You Need

Picture of mountain top from Elbow Falls Recreation Area - by Judy Hirst 2022

I believe that the Universe looks after us.  Time after time I have great stories of how the Universe made sure that my husband and I were looked after.  A funny story takes place this past week.

For the last two months I have been to the grocery store and as I shop, I look at different foods and different granola cereals.  I end up not buying them because the brand is too sugary or too little protein. A lot of time, it is because I do not like the combination of grains, nuts, and fruits.  And yet, I keep feeling that I need granola.

I have learned that when I get a push to eat something that my body is trying to tell me that I need the food to move to balance in my body.  Some days I need more water than other days.  Some days I need more rest. Some days I need more exercise.  When I meditate on this, I find that some days the need for more of  “something” is a feeling that many people are getting at the same time.  The feeling is an energetic wave that is sweeping an area.

I digress.  Back to my story.  On Wednesday evening about supper time, the doorbell rang.  It was our neighbour who had a bagful of food that he could no longer eat.  He handed it to us and asked us to use it.  In the bag was a big box of  the perfect granola for me!

The Universe delivered what I needed right to the door!  How cool is that?

Many blessings,
Judy

How To - Healing Resentment

                    image

It may seem to readers that have been following this blog for the past couple of days that the theme seems to be about healing and therefore about self care or self love.  That is true.  However, there are so many aspects to the harm that we do to ourselves that we need many ways of undoing the harm, and many ways to promote healing.  One of the most common destructive emotions I see in clients is resentment.

I like this exercise on releasing resentment.  It appears in many books and articles.  The exercise write up comes from the blog http://indigointentions.com/a-quick-exercise-to-dissolve-resentment.htm.

Dissolving Resentment

Dissolving resentment can be simple, not easy but simple. One of the best exercises I have used in my own life and offered to my clients is an exercise that Louise Hay shares in her book, “You Can Heal Your Life” and she point out that this is an old Emmet Fox exercise that helps to dissolve resentment. Since it helps to dissolve the resentment, it will also help you in forgiving others and in forgiving yourself.

  • Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths and when you feel relaxed, imagine yourself in a special place. This special place can be anywhere that your imagination takes you, perhaps somewhere in nature or to a special forgiveness room that you can return to again and again when doing forgiveness work.
  • In the spirit of forgiving others, think of someone who you resent in some way or someone who has upset, hurt or offended you. See this person sitting in front of you, at a distance that feels comfortable to you. If for any reason it is not comfortable for you to invite this person into the sacred space that you have created with your imagination envision them behind a wall of glass or in a room across from yours or see them on the TV screen, be creative and do what feels comfortable.
  • When you see this person clearly, visualize good things happening to this person – things that would be meaningful to him. See him or her smiling and happy. Hold the image for a few minutes and then let it fade away.
  • Now take a moment to do the same for yourself. Once the image of the other person fades, see good things happening to you. See yourself smiling and happy. Feel how good this feels. Close your session with gratitude.
