Mink and Water

 image

Mink, a spirit animal, says that water is very important to all of us.  Creator has made us all – all animals – mostly water to remind us that we are all fluid – that is our spirit, our energy, is able to move with the flow.  There is no reason not to move fluidly, whether we dance, sing, run or walk.  We are meant to flow on the easiest path.

Mink observes that especially in winter, humans do not flow.  Mink thinks this is because that humans do not move close enough to water.  Instead, they sit in buildings and other dry places.  Even drinking lots of water does not ease the burden of loss of fluidity.

Minks like to live near water and are seldom found far from riverbanks, lakes and marshes. Even when roaming, they tend to follow streams and ditches. Sometimes they leave the water altogether for a few hundred metres.  This is the example that humans should follow.

Mink Matters.. A Spirit Animal

 image

What I remember about Mink from my childhood, is that when Mink is around, it may dig into the hen house and eat the chickens.

When Mink popped into my meditation today, I was rather surprised.  Mink was offended by my surprise and insisted that she mattered as much as any of the other animals.  Mink tells me that she is gifted with abundance by Creator.  She says that in Nature, Mink is given a territory that she must guard or defend from other Minks, and often from other predators.

Mink offers that her diet is what humans should be eating because it keeps her slim and healthy.  She eats fresh fish twice a day, or wild meat (rabbit and small animals are her favorites) and she drinks lots of water and gets lots of exercise.  She loves to swim, and believes the cold water keeps her blood circulating.

Mink has some thoughts to share about life.

  • Move about and don’t stay in one place too long.  If your habits are too predictable, your enemies will hunt you and eat you.
  • Know your environment, and watch for changes in it – even the behaviour of your neighbours.  It will warn you that something is up, and you can find a safe place to wait out the problem.
  • When you have something that is valuable, other people want it – like mink fur.  Watch for those that will take away what you have.

Judy

A Visit From Mink

 image

Mink picture from Wikipedia

From time to time, animals pop into my dreams because they want humans to know about them.  The animals have messages.  Mink recently showed up.

Mink is an animal that we know of from all the fur coats that we see.  Man is one of the worst predators for Mink.  Other predators include Great Horned Owls, bobcat, and fox. Never-the-less, Mink thrives on fish and other aquatic life, small mammals (rabbits especially), and birds, particularly water fowl. (Predator and food info from Wikipedia.)  Mink is very territorial, and maps out its territory around a river, stream or lake.

Mink has these thoughts to share with you.

  1. It is hard to retake your territory.  Mark your boundaries well, and allow no encroachment on your space, values or projects.
  2. We all have predators who want something from us.  Learn who has you in their sites, and what their agenda is.  Figure out what you can do to move out of their range of attention.  Sometimes making noise is not a good thing.
  3. Mink do nap, with one eye open.  Take short breaks to renew your energy, and always know where your “safe” place is.
  4. Pay attention to your diet.  Eat only what agrees with you, and eat only what you need.
Blessings,
Judy
