October 1 2026 - Flowering Lotus Position

image

As October begins, and plants and trees fold into winter quietness, it seems like a good time for all of us to move into a meditation practice to help us deal with the change that is going on around us and in the world.

The best time of meditation is when you can sit or lie in stillness, with your eyes closed, and see the petals of the Lotus flower floating around you.  With apologies to Yogis every where, this is the Lotus position.  It is in this space of no time that the Lotus allows one to travel near and far, and yet to have a grounding place.  The image is the gift of the Universe and becomes the symbol of a changing consciousness.

It is not always white.  Sometimes it seems a pinkish-purplish-goldish colour that captivates one’s Soul and raises the joy factor to a state of blissful.

This is the place to stay, to grow, to heal.

Close Your Eyes

 image

The poster says:  Why do we close our eyes when we pray, cry, kiss, dream?  Because the most beautiful things in life are not seen but felt only in the heart.  —- Unknown

*********************************************

As much as we love beautiful things, humans will close their eyes when they are so touched by “something” that they cannot bear to see it with their eyes wide open.  It may be because we have excitement, anticipation, or even a little fear around the edges of what ever we are doing.  Closing our eyes makes it seem safer.

And, when we close our eyes, we do not let the reality of life interfere with our search for possibilities.  We know that things can happen that are not always explainable in ordinary terms.  There is a certain physics of believing, or dreaming, or praying, that allows the future to be generated with our eyes closed.

Make a wish.  Check your eyes.  Were they opened or closed?  How quickly did your wish manifest?

Blessings.

Feed Others

 image

The dog and the lamb (not the Lion and the Lamb) are here to remind us that many people and animals wander this world, without enough food to nourish them.  They say that all deserve the right to have food.  All deserve the opportunity to forage for food.  All deserve to be gifted food.

The message is clear that we need to give what we can without prejudice or judgment or conditions,  about who or what we are feeding.  We need to find compassion within ourselves to help others over come the challenges that they have.  We who can need to help to feed those who cannot.

Find time to feed someone today.

Blessings
