Moth and Change

As I got ready for bed, two small moths, similar to the one above, came and danced around my head, and then settled on the wall.  When I left the bathroom, they followed me, and settled on my lampshade.

Moth, like butterfly, represents change.  Because Moth goes through four transformations, and butterfly only goes through three transformation, some believe that Moth indicates a bigger magnitude of change.

Some of the ideas to keep in mind if Moth pays you a visit are:

  • Moth’s preferred time of movement is the night.  Take a page from Moth’s book and plan activities for the late evening or night, especially if you are doing creative activities like writing.
  • Moth lays its wings flat to blend more easily.  This is a time of transformation for you so keeping a low profile is a great idea.  When you do not draw attention to yourself, then others will not try to interfere with your change.
  • Moth is attracted by light.  We all are.  Moth, however, is not always discriminating about the type of light that it flocks to.  Pay attention to the things that are calling to you now.  You are vulnerable, and not always thinking from a place of being grounded.  Some things that call to you are destructive.  Beware!

Love and Let It Come Back

image

The poster says, “Whatever you give to life, it gives you back.  Do not hate anybody.  The hatred which comes out from you will someday come back to you.  Love others.  And Love will come back to you.

So many times we hear the phrase “if a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil….”.  The saying is about the ripple effect of our actions.

I am thinking about something lovely that my friend Brenda, did for another person.  She came out of Safeway and found a young woman standing, looking lost and sad and cold.  Brenda asked her if she could help the young woman.  The young woman was tired and hungry and had no success getting assistance from the person she had called on the telephone.

Brenda took her in and bought her a sandwich and coffee, and gave the young woman the only money that she had in her wallet, a five dollar bill.  She said that she knew that this lady needed it more than she did.

Whatever happens to the young lady, I believe the outcome will be good because someone gave her kindness and hope.

May your day be wonderful in all ways.

Blessings,

Judy

Butterfly on Metamorphasis

My dog and I were walking along the top of the hill, revelling in the hot sun, shining down on us so beautifully.  The warmth was so welcome after a week of rain.   My dog was trotting along, doing his thing, and the two of us were simply feeling happy and alive.  As we walked, two butterflies came out of no where, and flew on each side of us, much like an honour guard, holding in the space of happiness.  They stayed with us until we returned to the car.

I thought a lot about the sacredness of what the butterflies did for us – to keep us in that space of happiness and contentment.  I was so grateful.  And then I thought about what the butterflies are about – metamorphosis and change.  And, I started laughing!

You see, meta in the metamorphosis, is actually written “metta”, and means “Loving Kindness”.  If I did not get the connection, Spirit is determined that I understand this concept, because when I was listening to my Buddhist lesson, the Master talked about a colleague of his, Sister Metta, who, as her name suggested, carried loving kindness with her where ever she went.  She was a purveyor of change.

I realized that the Butterflies was moving us (my dog and me) forward into a stronger alignment with loving kindness. They were fanning us with new energy.  This seems like it is a great gift at this time of change.d Butterflies’ actions made me think of this writing by Buddha, "May you be at peace.  May your heart remain open.  May you awaken to the light of your own true nature. May you be healed.  May you be a source of healing to all beings."  The Metta of the Buddha

May each of you have a very transforming week!

Much metta,

Judy
