No One Is Alone

I was listening to two women talking at a café while I was waiting for my sister to join me.  Their conversation was interesting because they talked about their children and how busy their kids or grandkids were.  Both women said that having their children close to them and yet so busy, made them feel alone or lonely.

I rolled that around in my mind.  Does lonely mean that they have no one to talk to?  Does lonely mean they feel excluded from the activities?  Does lonely mean that the children have nothing to do with their mother?  I wasn’t sure.

What I am sure about is that Angels are always present so one is never alone.

About Appreciation

I was walking in the mall behind two women who were chatting.  One was speaking about her parents, sibling, and then her husband and children.  The theme of her conversation was that she does so much for each of them and that none of them have any appreciation for her and what she does.  In her terms, they expect her to do, to cater to them.

Being curious, I looked up the definition of appreciation in the Merriman-Webster Dictionary.  The definition is “ a feeling or expression of admiration, approval, or gratitude. I want to express my appreciation for all you've done. a small token of our appreciation”.

The lady was using the word appreciation correctly.  I felt for her.  What do we do when people do not appreciate us?  Do we walk away?  I think that sometimes we must walk away, for our own sanity and to start setting boundaries when people keep demanding from us with no thought to acknowledging our effort.
